The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has informed the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court that work on the blueprint for the proposed flyover from Polytechnic to Kisan Path is progressing rapidly and will be submitted to the court by September 15.

During the hearing, the court fixed the next date for proceedings on September 22, directing that if the plan is not presented by then, the LDA Vice President must appear via video conferencing. The Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department (PWD) has also been instructed to attend the next hearing through video conferencing.

The directive was issued by a division bench comprising Justice Rajan Rai and Justice Manjeev Shukla while hearing a 2017 public interest litigation filed by the Awadh Bar Association regarding severe traffic congestion between Polytechnic Square and Kisan Path, including Kamta Square.

At the previous hearing on August 12, the court was informed that a meeting on July 14—attended by the LDA Vice President, the Municipal Commissioner, and the Divisional Commissioner—concluded that operating a metro line from Polytechnic to Kisan Path would be impractical.

Instead, a metro route from Indira Gandhi Pratishthan to Ekana Stadium was deemed more feasible. The state government added that even if a metro were introduced from Polytechnic to Kisan Path, a flyover would still be necessary.

The court has also ordered the PWD Principal Secretary to file an affidavit before the next hearing.
