A 24-year-old man accused of murdering his mother and four sisters in a Lucknow hotel has claimed he committed the act to prevent his sisters from being trafficked. In a video circulating on social media, the accused, identified as Arshad, alleged that neighbours and land mafia in Budaun had seized their house and planned to sell his sisters.
In the footage, reportedly recorded after the crime, Arshad admitted to choking his family members and slitting their wrists, revealing that his father assisted him. He also displayed the victims’ bodies and stated that three sisters were dead, with the fourth nearing death.
In the viral video, Arshad stated, ''Fed up with the harassment from our colony’s residents, I killed my mother and four sisters. These people wanted to seize our house. Despite raising our concerns, no one supported us. We were left to wander in the cold, helpless. We even considered converting our religion and donating everything to the temple.'' He also appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take strict action against such individuals.

Arshad specifically named Ranu alias Aftab Ahmed, Shalim Khan, Ahmed, Arif, Azhar, and some relatives, accusing them of running a gang involved in trafficking women. He alleged that their plan was to imprison his family and sell his sisters in Hyderabad, which, he claimed, forced him to commit the heinous act.
During police interrogation, Arshad admitted to meticulously planning the murders. He first took his family to Ajmer and later to Lucknow, where they stayed in a hotel. On the night of the incident, he served them alcohol, strangled some with a dupatta, and slit others’ wrists using a blade. His father allegedly assisted him in the crime. After the killings, Arshad dropped his father at a railway station and then surrendered to the police.
The police have recovered the murder weapons, a blade and dupatta, based on Arshad’s confession. Investigators are conducting a detailed probe to verify the accused’s claims and gather evidence. Each aspect of his statement is being closely examined to uncover the complete truth behind the gruesome murders, officials stated.
