Approximately 44,000 electricity consumers in the capital are set to receive improved and more reliable power supply. The Electricity Department is focusing on upgrading 18 power sub-stations that fall under the Raj Bhavan division. According to engineers, there is a plan to install a new power transformer at the Dalibagh power sub-station.
Currently, the Dalibagh sub-station has a capacity of three 10 MVA (3x10 MVA) power transformers. To meet future load demands, the installation of an additional 10 MVA power transformer has been proposed in the business plan. This new transformer is scheduled to be installed before the upcoming summer season.
Dharmendra Saxena, Executive Engineer of the Raj Bhavan division, provided details on the capacity of other key sub-stations:
Jawahar Bhawan: Equipped with two 10 MVA (2x10 MVA) power transformers. It is not currently overloaded, and electricity demand is manageable.
Indira Bhawan: Has a capacity of four 10 MVA (4x10 MVA) power transformers. It was previously upgraded with an additional 10 MVA transformer based on consumer demand.
Cooper Road Sub-station: Equipped with two 10 MVA (2x10 MVA) transformers.
BD Marg Sub-station: Also equipped with two 10 MVA (2x10 MVA) transformers.
Raj Bhavan Sub-station: Similarly has a capacity of two 10 MVA (2x10 MVA) transformers.
Officials also noted that the eight sub-stations within the CG City area, as well as the Arjunganj and Hariharpur sub-stations, are not currently experiencing overload issues.
Engineers have confirmed that all sub-stations are being prepared for the anticipated increase in demand during the upcoming summer. They also assured that there will be no power issues during the winter, even with an increase in load, as most of the necessary maintenance and repair work was completed in September.
