The Lucknow Division of Northern Railway will implement a new system wherein the reservation charts for all trains—including Lucknow Mail, AC Express, Shatabdi Express, and others—will be prepared eight hours before the scheduled departure, starting Monday.
On Sunday, the division conducted a successful trial run of this system, preparing charts for trains such as Gomti Express, Purbiya Express, Garib Nawaz Express, Anand Vihar Special, Avadh Assam Express, and Kumbh Express, all scheduled to depart on Monday morning.

Previously, reservation charts were auto-generated four hours before departure. The shift to an eight-hour manual charting system follows a pilot project initiated by the Bikaner Railway Division, which tested a 24-hour advance charting system on select trains like the Avadh Assam Express.
However, based on passenger feedback, the Railway Board directed all zones to revert to an eight-hour window, giving flexibility to divisions to implement it as per their operational convenience.
From Monday onwards, the updated system will cover trains departing not only from Lucknow but also from Ayodhya, Varanasi, Pratapgarh, Sultanpur, and other stations under the Lucknow Division.
