A viral video on social media shows a speeding SUV dragging a scooter for nearly 15 kilometres, from near a prominent shopping complex on Shaheed Path road to near the airport in Lucknow. The onlookers captured the shocking incident on their phones. In a minute video, shared by a user - @NigarNawab - shows the black SUV running at high speed with the scooter under it and sparks flying in a dramatic manner which drew people's attention.

The SUV first hit the scooter and then dragged it for around 15 km. The scooter driver was identified as Manish Singh. He was hospitalised after the accident. The scooter driver was thrown off in the collision due to which he escaped being mowed down. 

The media reports stated that the incident took place on Sunday. As soon as the authorities were alerted, they took swift action and arrested the SUV driver.

Gosaiganj ACP Rishabh Runwal said the SUV driver was identified as Brijesh Kumar Singh, 55, who hails from Varanasi. Singh works in a battery factory in Ghaziabad and lives there, he added.

According to the police, the horrific incident took place near Lulu Mall in Sushant Golf City Police Station area. The speeding vehicle stopped near Lucknow airport.

Police action against Accused

The police official said the SUV driver has been sent to jail under the 151 challan action for serious negligence.

The scooter driver filed a police complaint. On his complaint, the Sushant Golf City police filed an FIR under BNS section 281 (rash driving) and 125 (a) (endangering the life or personal safety).

According to the FIR, the shocking incident occurred on Sunday night around 9 pm after the accused hit the scooty and kept dragging it on Shaheed Path. The SUV (bearing registration UP14DJ7060) hit the schooty from behind.

Sushant Golf City SHO Anjani Kumar Mishra said the police were examining whether the SUV driver was drunk.
