A student who was preparing for a competitive exam died by suicide at his leased flat in Lucknow. He thanked his mother and father for everything in a WhatsApp message before he ended his life. He wrote, "I apologise."

The student was a resident of Bibidi Thana area of Lucknow. His mother, Maya Hardoi, and father, Harish Sahni, both used to work in Sandila's private sector. The student's mother claimed to have received her son's WhatsApp message on the day of the incident. She attempted to contact him after viewing the message and made multiple calls, but he didn't answer.

The door was shut as the family arrived at their house. After trying unsuccessfully for almost two hours, they called the police. When the police eventually arrived and busted through the door, they discovered the student dead "Thank you, mummy and dad for everything, the student said in his suicide letter. I apologise," he wrote.

There is an inquiry going on, said Sayed Ali Abbas, a senior police officer. The student's family however claimed that their child would have been rescued if the landlord had promptly opened the door.
