JE News Desk: A man has approached Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath with a complaint accusing his wife and her lover of threatening him to divorce the woman. The man is a class 4 employee in the Panchayat Raj Department of Uttar Pradesh and his wife is a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) in Bareilly. Her alleged lover is said to be an officer with the UP Home Guard Department.
Uttar Pradesh Police are yet to file a first information report (FIR) regarding the incident while the UP Home Guard Department has ordered a probe into the matter. The man has also accused his wife of taking bribes at her job.
The man who is a native of Prayagraj’s Jhalwa got married to the accused in 2010. According to the complaint, at the time of marriage, the man was posted in Pratapgarh district. “I was good at studies and used to prepare for various government exams. She, too, expressed her desire to pursue her studies and I readily agreed. I thought by allowing her to pursue her studies, I would fulfill my dream of becoming a PCS officer, which I gave up owing to family responsibilities,” he said.
The man said that despite his posting in the Pratapgarh district and financial position he took his wife to Prayagraj and enrolled her in one of the best coaching classes for the civil services examination. The woman bagged rank 16 in UPSC PCS 2015 examination and got selected for the post of SDM. She was posted in various districts of the state including Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Lucknow and then transferred to Bareilly.
The man has alleged that his wife came in contact with an officer of the UP Home Guard Department in 2020. He claimed that he caught his wife and her alleged lover in a compromising position at his home after which they threatened him of dire consequences if he shared the incident with anyone.
“I spent all my savings on her studies and expenses and now that she has become an officer, she wants divorce. I request UP CM to help me. I have also filed a complaint with the Dhumanganj Police station,” the man said, requesting help from the CM.
The complainant has alleged a lack of support from the police authorities and the state administration. He claimed that he is now unemployed and is getting constant threats that he will be killed if he does not divorce his wife.
