Passengers traveling to Kanpur have received some relief as train operations gradually resume despite the ongoing mega block due to repair work on the Kanpur Ganga Bridge. A large number of trains were affected by the repair work, but from April 2, several trains have started running via Kanpur, reducing travel time for passengers.
From April 2 to April 30, 12179 Lucknow Junction - Agra Fort Express will operate via the Kanpur route instead of the diverted route through Lucknow Junction- Shahjahanpur- Kasganj- Mathura Junction- Agra Fort.
Similarly, 12180 Agra Fort-Lucknow Junction Express, running from Agra Fort during the same period, will follow the Kanpur route instead of the previous diversion through Agra Fort-Mathura Junction-Kasganj-Shahjahanpur-Lucknow Junction.
Chief Public Relations Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that engineering work is being carried out on bridge number 110 between Kanpur Bridge Left Bank and Kanpur Central under the Lucknow Division of Northern Railway.

Initially, train routes were altered due to traffic and power blocks, but now the railway administration has reduced the block period by a few hours, allowing some trains to partially resume their original routes.
Additional train service updates:
-12003 Swarn Shatabdi Express (Lucknow Junction-New Delhi Express) will now operate via the Kanpur route from April 2 to April 30, instead of its diverted path through Lucknow Junction-Moradabad-Ghaziabad.
-22121 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Lucknow Express, which was previously short-terminated at Kanpur Central on April 5, 12, 19, and 26, will now run till Lucknow as scheduled.
-22122 Lucknow-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express, which was previously short-originated from Kanpur Central on April 6, 13, 20, and 27, will now depart from Lucknow as per its original schedule.
-16094 Lucknow Junction-Chennai Central Express, which was initially scheduled to depart 30 minutes late on April 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, 24, and 28, will now run at its original departure time of 16:20 hrs from Lucknow Junction.
MEMU Train Schedule Update
-The 64211 Lucknow-Kanpur Central MEMU train, scheduled to run between April 2 and 30, was initially delayed by 90 minutes. It will now depart from Lucknow at 15:00 hrs instead of 14:30 hrs.
Passengers can now expect improved train connectivity and reduced travel time as services gradually resume via the Kanpur route.
