Following the successful execution of Mahakumbh-2025, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is expediting preparations for a grand and aesthetically unified Magh Mela 2026. With infrastructural improvements nearly complete, the administration has unveiled a unique colour-coordinated theme to enhance the spiritual and organisational experience for the estimated 12-15 crore devotees expected to attend.

Thematic Organisation: 7 Sectors, 7 Energy Chakras

To ensure visual uniformity and easier navigation, the entire Mela area has been divided into seven sectors, each corresponding to one of the "seven energy chakras."

Colour-Coded Design: All seven sectors and seven pontoon bridges will be decorated with specific colours representing these energy centres.

Demarcation: A 3-foot-wide demarcation strip will be painted on the boundary walls of each sector to clearly define the layout, making the Mela visually organised.

Branding: The official logos of the Uttar Pradesh government and Magh Mela-2026 will be prominently displayed across all sectors.

Infrastructure Upgrades: Capacity And Aesthetics

Recent discussions with the Chief Secretary highlighted significant upgrades aimed at crowd management and visitor convenience.

Enhanced Changing Rooms: Changing facilities at the ghats will now feature double the capacity. A standard 2-unit facility will accommodate 4 people simultaneously, reducing wait times. These structures will also align with the sector-wise colour scheme.

Pontoon Bridges: The seven bridges will be decorated in the seven colours of the rainbow.

Lighting: Bridges will feature LED lights on poles displaying religious symbols, serving as a visual attraction day and night.

Safety: Canopies will be constructed on the bridges to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims, and colour-coded flags will be installed for easy identification.
