Panic ensued at Shri Ram Public School in DLF Phase 3 on Wednesday afternoon after the administration received an email threatening to blow up the institution. Following a thorough search operation by security agencies, the threat was declared a hoax.

Sequence Of Events

The Threat: The threatening email was received at 12:05 PM on the school’s official email address. It was sent from an Outlook account.

Police Alerted: The school administration informed the police control room around 1:00 PM.

Response: Teams from the DLF Phase 3 police station, along with the bomb disposal squad and the dog squad, rushed to the scene.

Search Operation: A comprehensive search was conducted across the school building, the surrounding premises, and the parking area.

Outcome: No suspicious items were found, and the threat was confirmed to be false.

Ongoing Investigation

Inspector Manoj Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of DLF Phase 3 police station, stated that efforts are underway to identify the sender.

Cyber Probe: The police are seeking assistance from the cyber crime team to trace the origin of the email.

Action: Strict legal action will be taken against the culprits once identified.

Pattern Of Hoax Threats In NCR

This incident adds to a series of similar hoax threats targeting educational institutions and commercial hubs in the region recently:

August 17, 2024: Ambience Mall (also in the DLF Phase 3 area) received a bomb threat. The mall was evacuated and searched, but the threat turned out to be a hoax intended to cause panic.

May 1, 2024: A coordinated wave of bomb threat emails was sent to numerous schools across the National Capital Region (NCR). In Gurugram specifically, Amity International School (Sectors 46 and 43), DPS (Sector 102 and Rajendra Park), and Venkateshwar School (Sector 57) were targeted. All threats were subsequently proven false.
