According to the NDTV report, the victim Munishra Rawat, wife of Tehbahadur Rawat, had been suffering from a stone-related ailment. On December 5, her husband took her to Shri Damodar Aushdhalaya in Kothi, where the clinic operator, Gyan Prakash Mishra, allegedly diagnosed her abdominal pain as caused by stones and recommended surgery. He quoted a cost of Rs 25,000, and her husband deposited Rs 20,000 before the procedure.

According to the husband’s complaint, Mishra, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, began the surgery after watching a YouTube video. During the operation, Mishra allegedly made a deep incision, cutting several veins, which led to Munishra Rawat’s death the following evening, December 6. Mishra’s nephew, Vivek Kumar Mishra, assisted him during the procedure.
Police stated that Vivek Kumar Mishra works at an Ayurvedic hospital in Raebareli, and the illegal clinic had allegedly been running for several years under the cover of his government job.
A case has been registered against both Mishra and his nephew for causing death by negligence, along with charges under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Authorities are actively pursuing their arrest.
