Prayagraj Magh Mela 2026: Prayagraj railway authorities have announced that parking facilities at key stations will be suspended during Magh Mela 2026 to manage the expected massive crowds. The order will be effective from January 1, ahead of the fair’s start on January 3, which is expected to draw around 15 crore devotees. The move follows the successful crowd management model of Mahakumbh 2025.

Parking Closures At Major Stations
Amit Kumar Singh, PRO of North Central Railway, Prayagraj Division, stated that parking at Prayagraj Junction, Subedarganj, and Chhivki stations will be either limited or fully closed to ensure passenger safety.
1. The city-side parking at Prayagraj Junction will remain completely closed until February 17.
2. Civil Lines side bike, car, and e-rickshaw stands will be closed during peak bathing dates: January 2–5, January 13–26, January 31–February 3, and February 14–17.
3. At Subedarganj station, the Rajrooppur side parking will be closed until February 17, while the Sulemsarai side stand will be shut on major festival dates.
4. Both parking areas at Chhivki station will remain closed from January 1 to February 17.
5. Officials acknowledged possible inconvenience but emphasized that these measures are essential to prevent accidents and ensure smooth crowd movement.
Alternative Arrangements
1. The Magh Mela administration has set up 42 alternative parking sites across Prayagraj.
2. Shuttle buses and e-rickshaws will transport visitors from these sites to the Sangam area.
3. Devotees are advised to use public transport or special trains instead of private vehicles.
4. Crowds are expected to peak on major bathing festival dates: Makar Sankranti (January 15), Mauni Amavasya (January 18), and Vasant Panchami (January 23).
5. The fair will conclude on February 15, coinciding with Mahashivratri.
6. Parking restrictions will remain in effect for two days after the event.
