In view of the upcoming Magh Mela, the railway administration has decided to change the terminals, partially cancel/originate, and divert the routes of several trains due to operational reasons. Under this arrangement, the Prayagraj Express will operate from Subedarganj Station instead of Prayagraj Junction from January 2, 2026, to February 17, 2026 (47 days). The Prayagraj-Lalgarh Express will also operate from Subedarganj starting from the same date. Additionally, the Prayagraj Humsafar Express will run from Subedarganj to Anand Vihar Terminal from January 12 to January 24 (13 days).

Similarly, the Up-Down stoppage for the North East Express, Anand Vihar Terminal-Kamakhya, Barmer-Howrah Superfast Express, Anand Vihar Terminal-Jogbani Express, New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani, New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani, and New Delhi-Rajendranagar Rajdhani will be at Subedarganj Station instead of Prayagraj Station.

Route Diversions And Station Shifts

During the fair, the Prayagraj–Gorakhpur train will operate from Phaphamau Station, while the Chopan-Prayagraj Express will run from Chheoki Station.

Route changes have also been implemented for the Danapur-Udhna Express, Patna-Ernakulam, Chhapra-Jalna, Pune-Banaras, Ranchi-Lokmanya Tilak Terminal (LTT), Ahmedabad-Patna, Secunderabad-Danapur, Dadar-Ballia, and Rameswaram-Banaras trains.

Direction-Wise Train Operations For Crowd Management

To ensure the seamless, safe, and convenient travel of devotees during the Magh Mela, the Prayagraj Division has made comprehensive arrangements for the organized operation of trains based on direction. This system is being implemented under the guidance of DRM (Prayagraj Division) Rajnish Agarwal and the leadership of Senior DCM Harimohan.

Under this plan, trains bound for specific directions will operate from different stations within the Prayagraj area. This will provide passengers with direct and easy rail access to their destinations while preventing excessive crowding at any single station.

Station-Wise Allocation

Prayagraj Junction: Trains bound for Kanpur, Pt Deendayal Upadhyay (DDU) Junction, Satna, and Jhansi.

Naini Junction: Trains bound for Satna and Jhansi.

Prayagraj Chheoki: Trains bound for Pt Deendayal Upadhyay (DDU) Junction, Satna and Jhansi.

Prayag and Phaphamau Stations: Trains bound for Ayodhya, Jaunpur and Lucknow.

Jhusi and Prayagraj Rambagh Stations: Trains bound for Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Mau.

Sangam Station To Close On Main Bathing Days

During the major bathing festivals of the Mela, Prayagraj Sangam Station will remain completely closed for passenger operations from one day prior to the main bathing date until two days after. The primary objective of this direction-wise operational plan is to ensure that devotees are provided with trains from the nearest and most suitable station corresponding to their direction of travel, ensuring smooth and safe rail traffic during the fair.

Changes In Reservation Chart Rules

The railway administration has also modified the rules regarding the preparation of reservation charts to assist passengers:

For trains departing between 05:01 am and 02:00 pm (14:00): The reservation chart will be released one day prior by 08:00 pm (20:00).

For trains departing between 02:01 pm (14:01) to 11:59 pm (23:59) and 12:00 am (00:00) to 05:00 am: The reservation chart will be released 10 hours before the departure time.

This change will provide relief to passengers with Waiting and RAC tickets, allowing them ample time to plan and prepare. If a ticket remains in the waiting list, passengers can explore other alternatives. Consequently, passengers must apply for the emergency quota one day prior to the date of travel.
