Mathura Janmashtami Celebrations: Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, the birthplace of lord Shri Krishna, transformed into a virtual fortress on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, with thousands of police personnel deployed across the city on Saturday. Temple management organised a three-day Krishna Mahotsav, which is likely to witness the arrival of lakhs of devotees.

A multi-fold security arrangement was made to ensure safety as lakhs of devotees arrived in Mathura to witness a special worship on the birthday of Lord Shri Krishna.

UP CM Yogi To Offer Prayer

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is among the dignitaries who are slated to attend the Janmashtami celebration in Mathura. He will offer prayers at Sri Krishna Janmasthan. The officials said the chief minister would also plant a sapling in Shri Krishna Janmasthan temple premises.

Yogi will attend a government programme at the Panchjanya Auditorium, where he will inaugurate various government schemes for Mathura. Later, the chief minister will felicitate saints and watch a documentary on Girraj Ji (Govardhan Hills).

How Authorities Ensured Foolproof Security

The local authorities segregated Mathura into four zones and 18 sectors, aiming for smooth administrative function during the Janmashtami celebrations. UP police deployed more than 5,000 police officers and personnel across the city.

The entry of all heavy vehicles into the city has been banned because of the three-day Krishna Mahotsav celebrations. Also, due to a huge crowd on routes leading to the Shri Krishna Janmasthan temple, the movement of vehicles has also been restricted.

Social media activity is under strict watch, and the inner area of the Janmasthal temple has been designated a red zone with extra police presence. The yellow and green zones around it are manned by plain-clothed personnel, including women officers.

Mobile phones, key rings, wristwatches, and any electronic devices are strictly prohibited inside. Devotees have been advised not to carry items like shoes, bags, matches, lighters or umbrellas to the temple, and to leave them safely at their accommodation to avoid difficulties during the exit, which will be from a different point. To assist pilgrims, police have launched a website brajdham.co.in to provide information on temples, routes, restrictions and other guidelines.
