Meerut-Prayagraj Ganga Expressway: In a major update for the commuters, the much-awaited Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh is likely to be inaugurated by the end of February. The officials stated that the construction on the 594-km-long expressway is almost 95 per cent complete and it is set to be inaugurated in the next month. The six-lane expressway will significantly boost the regional connectivity by linking Meerut and Prayagraj, two major cities of the state. It will provide convenience to thousands of commuters by cutting the travel time and reducing traffic congestion. Along with this, the project is also set to improve the financial activities in several districts.
As per the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the work on the key project has already reached the final stage. The authority further stated that a final inspection will take place before the inauguration. While providing details, State Chief Secretary SP Goyal stated that the expressway is set to be inaugurated before February 15. He further stated that it will cut the travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from approximately 12 hours to just six hours.
Ganga Expressway Details:
- The expressway will pass through several districts, including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj.
- A 3.5-km emergency landing facility is built near Shahjahanpur.
- It includes 23 toll plazas, 126 minor bridges, 28 flyovers, and 946 culverts.
- The state government stated that textile parks and IT parks will be built along the route.
- Sensor-based systems have been installed for monitoring road quality.
- Phase-2 extensions will add 453 kilometers to the expressway, linking several regions of Uttarakhand.
- The expressway is set to significantly boost the regional connectivity in Uttar Pradesh.
