In a shocking incident that has sparked public outrage and raised questions over the failing law and order situation in the city, a young man named Adil was brutally shot dead by his friend in broad daylight as an accomplice filmed the entire act on a mobile phone.

The video, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the accused firing three bullets at Adil within 11 seconds. The shooting only stopped when the person recording the video instructed the shooter to "drop it."

Adil, who sold clothes in the local market, was later found dead near a tube well in Narheda village. He had been shot in the head. Upon receiving a call from the tube well owner, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem.

Three bullet casings were recovered from the site, and a disturbing photo showing a youth pointing a pistol at Adil's lifeless body is also being circulated online. Police have detained four individuals in connection with the case.

Live Murder Filmed & Shared Online

A live video of the murder, shared on social media Thursday morning, has shocked the public and authorities alike. In two 12-second clips, a minor is seen firing three shots at Adil, two into his chest, followed by a third while Adil lies motionless on the ground near the tube well. A voice can be heard instructing the shooter, who complies before fleeing the scene.

Following the command, the shooter fires two bullets into Adil’s chest, then a third. The person filming then tells the shooter to leave.

The shooter has been identified as Julkumar, a resident of Shyamnagar. Police confirmed they recognized the voice of the person giving instructions and are using it as a lead in the investigation. Another video showing Julkumar riding a motorcycle on the highway has also surfaced.

Revenge, Betrayal, or Illicit Affair: Why Was Adil Murdered?

Police say the murder may have been driven by revenge, betrayal, or a suspected illicit relationship. Investigations so far reveal that Adil spent the entire day with his killers, who lured him to the location, possibly drugged or rendered him unconscious, and then executed the killing.

Adil’s brother has named seven individuals in the FIR. He believes Adil’s murder is linked to an earlier killing that of Abrar, a resident of Rardhanewali Gali, who was shot dead a month ago in an incident rooted in an old rivalry. Those accused in Abrar’s murder were arrested and jailed.

According to local residents, Abrar’s family had vowed to take revenge after his death. Adil’s house is located directly opposite Abrar’s, leading to suspicions that he may have leaked information to Abrar’s killers. This suspicion may have led to Adil’s murder.

Investigators believe the suspects were deeply upset with Adil. Sources suggest Adil may have been targeted for betrayal, or possibly due to a personal relationship. Authorities are exploring all possible angles. Four police teams have been deployed, and officials say the accused will be arrested soon.

SSP Issues Ultimatum After Video Goes Viral

With the filming and circulation of the video SSP Dr. Vipin Tada has taken the case seriously and criticized the local police over lapses in law enforcement in Lohiaya agar and Lisari Gate.

SSP Dr. Vipin Tada expressed strong dissatisfaction over the rising incidents of violent crime in the area. He has taken Adil’s murder very seriously especially given that a video of the killing was widely circulated online.

On Wednesday night, senior officers initially dismissed the viral image as "AI-generated." But after the live video surfaced the next day, they were caught off guard and heavily criticized.

Frustrated with poor performance and misleading reports, the SSP issued an ultimatum to officers of Lohiaya Nagar, Lisari Gate, and the in-charges of Pilokhadi and Fafunda outposts: Arrest the accused within 24 hours or face strict action.

As of late Wednesday night, the accused had not been located, and search operations are still ongoing. As of Thursday night, police teams are still searching for the remaining suspects.
