The recruitment process for permanent teaching positions at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) has concluded, with the university receiving 604 applications for 46 posts of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor. Applications were invited in September, and the deadline, extended once, closed on November 10.
The highest competition is for Assistant Professor positions. For nine vacancies, the university has received 450 applications, averaging 50 candidates per post. A total of 89 applications have been submitted for 14 Associate Professor posts, while 65 candidates have applied for 23 Professor positions.

Last year, MMMUT had initiated recruitment for 110 teaching posts but could fill only 76, leaving 34 posts vacant. The number has now risen to 46 due to retirements, resignations, and the sudden demise of two faculty members. Notably, all 22 Professor posts advertised in the previous cycle remained unfilled because suitable candidates were not found. Only 20 out of 31 Associate Professor posts were filled, and one Assistant Professor post also remained vacant.
In the current round, recruitment will be conducted for two posts in IT, six each in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, nine in Computer Science, two in Chemical Engineering, seven in Mechanical Engineering, 10 in Civil Engineering, and one post each in Economics, Mathematics, and Management.
The university also invited applications for three non-teaching positions, Deputy Librarian, Assistant Registrar, and Controller of Examinations, and received 97 applications in total. Of these, 14 applications were for Deputy Librarian, 13 for Controller of Examinations, and 70 for Assistant Registrar.
With the application process complete, MMMUT will soon begin written examinations and interviews for the respective posts, Vice-Chancellor Prof JP Saini said.
