The Noida Authority has launched a campaign to demolish illegal constructions in the Yamuna floodplain, freeing approximately 40,000 square meters of land from encroachment. A team of 70 employees, five JCBs, and two dumpers was deployed to carry out the demolition drive, Jagran.com reported

The authority has warned people against falling prey to land mafia and clarified that the land in question is notified and under its monitoring. To date, around 150 buildings, including residential and commercial structures, have been identified as illegal and marked for demolition.

The authority has emphasised that no illegal construction will be tolerated in Noida, particularly in the flood zone where buying and selling land is prohibited. The Yamuna river flows through several sectors in Noida, including 94, 124, 125, 127, 128, 131, 133, 134, 135, 168, and 150. Similarly, the Harnandi river passes through areas like Chhijarsi, Shahdara, and Sector 63A.

Both rivers surround Noida, and the land along their banks is designated as a flood zone, where construction and land transactions are banned. The Noida Authority's drive aims to protect these areas from encroachment and ensure compliance with regulations.
