One of the long-awaited and ambitious projects in Noida, the Noida Film City, has begun as the Yamuna Expressway Development Authority has provided nod to the revised plan submitted by Boney Kapoor’s consortium. The authority had rejected the proposed plan by the filmmaker’s company due to the violation of green area norms and the lack of other necessary certificates. The revised plan submitted to the YEIDA received approval on June 9.
Why Was The Initial Plan Rejected
The initial plan by developers was rejected by the YEDIA because its proposal showed plans to build a commercial area on land which was reserved for park and open area, violating the green area norms.
Apart from this, the plan did not have the required safety certificates for fire and structural stability. The revised plan includes 15 per cent of the land for a green area and encompasses the required certificates.

As the plan has received approval from the YEIDA, the first phase of the construction will begin soon.
In the first phase, core film facility structures will be built on 80 acres of land, including a film institute and studios. According to the rules by the authority, developers can not build any commercial buildings like malls, hotels or resorts until the major part of the film city is done within three years. The rule aims to ensure that the project remains a film city not any real estate development.
They plan to start construction by the end of June and finish the first phase in 18 months, with shooting to begin after that. "We have plans aim to complete the first phase within 18 months and begin shooting thereafter," Kapoor said.
