Noida: A TV debate in Noida turned violent after SP leaders allegedly assaulted Maulana Sajid Rashidi over his controversial remarks against MP Dimple Yadav. The incident took place during a programme recorded at a studio in Sector 126, Noida and a video of the altercation has since gone viral on social media.

In the 16-second video, the Maulana is seen surrounded by participants and the anchor during the discussion. Suddenly, a few individuals begin slapping and hitting him. The attackers have been identified as Samajwadi Party Chhatra Sabha Gautam Budh Nagar president Mohit Nagar, along with SP leaders Shyam Singh and Prashant Bhati.

Following the incident, Maulana Rashidi approached Sector 126 police station to lodge a complaint. He accused the SP leaders of assault and claimed he was targeted for expressing his views.

Responding to the allegations, Mohit Nagar stated that he and his team were present in the studio for a debate when Rashidi started making offensive statements. According to Nagar, the Maulana’s comments were not only indecent but also aimed at inciting religious division. He added that they would take legal action if Rashidi did not issue a public apology.

Meanwhile, SP workers staged a protest on Monday, demanding action against the Maulana. A written complaint was submitted at Surajpur police station by SP Mahila Sabha and other party members.

In a separate development, SP leader Pravesh Yadav filed a police complaint in Lucknow’s Vibhutikhand police station. Based on his statement, an FIR was registered under IPC sections 79, 196, 197, 299, 352, 353 and the IT Act.

ADCP Noida Sumit Kumar Shukla confirmed that an investigation is underway.
