In a major push to ease traffic congestion and enhance pedestrian safety, the Noida Authority has prepared a detailed action plan to redesign major intersections and roads across the city. Drawing inspiration from cities like Singapore, New York, and London, the project aims to transform key traffic junctions into modern, accessible, and obstruction-free zones.
Noida Authority CEO Dr Lokesh M, along with Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, will soon inspect the identified intersections. Based on their inputs, the final designs will be approved. The project prioritises creating dedicated, safe pathways for pedestrians—fully equipped as Multi Utility Zones (MUZ)—eliminating the need to cross busy roads.
The first model intersection under the new plan will be at Botanical Garden (Sector 37 and 57), where the consultant firm has already submitted its presentation. The redesigned areas will feature underground cabling, drainage systems, signage boards, lighting, dustbins, benches, and green belts. Special facilities like ramps and bollards will also be installed to aid persons with disabilities.
Under this initiative, a 500-meter to 1-kilometre radius around key intersections will be converted into vibrant public spaces with greenery, decorative lighting, walking tracks, food kiosks, and open sitting areas. A separate food court zone is also part of the plan.

This large-scale plan builds on the success of a pilot project conducted two years ago, where a 1.2 km stretch from Shashi Chowk to Noida City Centre Metro Station was developed into a model road. Featuring murals, footpaths, smart poles with panic buttons, mobile charging points, bus bays, and WiFi zones, the project received highly positive public feedback—encouraging the Authority to expand it city-wide.
