Days after a woman's headless and limbless body was found in a drain in Noida, the police have arrested a 34-year-old man. The arrested accused was in an extra-marital relationship with the victim.
After his arrest on Friday, he told the police that he dumped the body parts of the victim across Noida and Ghaziabad and the woman was extorting money from him. The police have identified the accused as Monu Singh, also known as Monu Solanki.
Monu allegedly murdered the victim, identified as Preeti Yadav, inside the bus. The body was found in the rain on November 6.
Monu was already married and has two daughters. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Yamuna Prasad told the news agency PTI that during interrogation, Monu revealed that Preeti had begun extorting money from him.
Singh also claimed that Preeti had been frequently threatening to implicate him or involve his daughters in illegal activities.
Preeti was murdered on November 5. The DCP further stated that Monu confessed that he picked up Preeti after taking a sharp-edged tool from her house without her knowledge.

DCP Prasad said, "They ate food inside the bus, after which an argument broke out. Singh claimed he attacked her with the weapon, beheaded her, and severed her hands to hide her identity".
The accused disposed of the torso in a drain in Noida and other remains of the body, along with the weapon in a dry drain near Ghaziabad's Siddharth Vihar. DCP Prasad said that the forensic examination of the bus and seized items confirmed the presence of human blood.
DCP Prasad also spoke about the challenging nature of the case, saying that the toe rings were the only identifiable clue.
Nine teams were formed to trace her identity. These teams scrutinised over 5,000 CCTV cameras and checked around 1,100 vehicles. Out of them, 44 vehicles were shortlisted and their owners were questioned, the DCP said.
