In compliance with a Supreme Court order, 1,500 designated feeding points for stray dogs will be established across Noida. The Noida Authority's Public Health Department, in cooperation with Apartment Owners' Associations (AOAs) and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), has initiated the construction of these points inside and outside residential societies and sectors. The project is estimated to cost approximately Rs 3 crore .

Each feeding point is being constructed on a three-by-three plot. A six-inch-high platform (chabutra) is prepared to protect the area from waterlogging during rainfall, and the space is then enclosed with fencing. The site selection process involves on-site inspections and surveys conducted by Public Health Department teams alongside AOA and RWA representatives. Once completed, dog lovers can visit these designated areas to feed stray dogs using their own containers. This initiative aims to ensure stray dogs are fed on time and to reduce the problem of them roaming in packs through residential areas.

The responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of these feeding points will lie with the AOAs, RWAs and local residents. The Noida Authority will only handle the initial construction and setup. Subsequently, cleanliness, food arrangements, and discipline will be managed through community participation. The Authority has appealed to residents to cooperate by feeding dogs only at these designated spots to prevent conflicts and maintain cleanliness. If necessary, such feeding points may also be built in industrial sectors. Officials believe this step will help create a balanced and safe environment for both city residents and animals.

Rules Changed After The Order

The Noida Authority has also formulated a new dog policy, which makes the registration of pet dogs mandatory. To date, 8,900 dogs have been registered. The rules for managing aggressive or sick dogs have also been changed based on new Supreme Court guidelines. Previously, dogs that bit people were vaccinated, trained by an NGO for 15 days, and then released. Now, dogs that bite people, as well as sick dogs, will be kept at the animal shelter located in Sector-94.
