Plans for a novel expressway along the Yamuna River have been developed as a result of a collaborative study undertaken by the irrigation department, RITES, the Noida Authority, and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
The purpose of this expressway is to enhance connectivity to the future Noida International Airport and reduce traffic congestion in Noida.
Complementing the existing Noida Expressway, this innovative bypass is expected to provide commuters with much-needed relief as they deal with the growth in business activity and the anticipated increase of travellers when the airport opens for business in October 2024.
The proposed 32-kilometer expressway may help with traffic flow to and from the airport, according to Times Now. It would join the Yamuna Expressway and follow the Yamuna Pushta Road. It would connect Sector 150, which is close to Greater Noida, with Sector 94, which is near the Delhi border.
Although an 11-kilometre section of the Pushta Road has been accessible since June 2014, authorities are looking into the viability of the new route because of the underutilisation of the existing route because of infrastructure limitations.
In the meantime, officials anticipate less traffic and improved connectivity to residential areas near the river, such as sectors 128, 135, 150, 151, and 168 as well as Greater Noida. It is reported that two rotaries will be constructed at either end of the motorway to facilitate smooth travel and give commuters convenient locations to enter and exit.
