To ensure the smooth and easy return of rail passengers after the Chhath Mahaparv festival, the North Eastern Railway (NER) administration has taken several effective steps, including a new digital initiative to provide live train updates.

According to NER Chief Public Relations Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh, passengers will no longer need to queue at enquiry counters for updated train information.

New QR Code System For Live Updates

As part of an innovative initiative, the railway administration has developed a QR code system, which has been implemented at Gorakhpur Junction station.

How it Works: By scanning the QR code, passengers can get complete, regularly updated information about all trains departing from Gorakhpur Junction station in all directions within the next four hours.

Locations: These QR codes are displayed at various key locations throughout the station premises, including the holding area (shelter), gates, and ticket counters.

Enhanced Passenger Facilities And Holding Areas

For the comfortable travel of passengers, the railway administration had already established holding areas at several major NER stations:

- Gorakhpur

- Banaras

- Ballia

- Chhapra

- Siwan

These holding areas are equipped with the following facilities for passengers:

- Train display boards

- Mobile charging points

- Coolers and fans

- Clean drinking water

- Help desks

- Information On The Mobile UTS app

- Adequate seating arrangements for railway staff

- Other Passenger Assistance and Security Measures

24/7 Help Desk: A help desk staffed by experienced railway employees is operational 24 hours a day at the station to assist passengers and receive suggestions.

Digital Ticketing: Passengers are being encouraged to increase their use of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) and the Mobile UTS app (mUTS) for self-service mobile ticketing.
