PM Ujjwala Yojana: UP Government's Free LPG Gas Cylinder Scheme On Diwali; Check Who Can’t Avail Benefit

UP Free LPG Gas Cylinder Scheme: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a Diwali gift for the poor, offering free LPG cylinders to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

 

In Lucknow, around 2.25 lakh connection holders are expected to benefit from this scheme. District Supply Officer Vijay Kumar stated that beneficiaries will receive a subsidy of up to Rs 300 per 14.2 kg cylinder.

To avail the benefit, eligible consumers who book a cylinder in October will receive the subsidy amount directly into their accounts.

 

The scheme aims to provide relief to poor households, particularly women, who are the primary beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana. Under the Ujjwala scheme, eligible women are provided a free gas connection, and the government covers the cost of the first refill. Ujjwala beneficiaries currently receive a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder, applicable for up to 12 cylinders per year.

The following categories are excluded:

 

1. Households with any member paying income tax.

 

2. Central or state government employees or pensioners.

 

3. Individuals with a monthly income or salary exceeding Rs 10,000.

 

4. Families owning four-wheelers.

 

5. Farmers with irrigated land exceeding 2.5 acres.

 

6. Households already having an LPG connection.

 

7. Prosperous families not categorized as poor in the Socio-Economic Caste Census.
