Following the success of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is set to ensure the convenience of tourists at the Magh Mela, to be held next year, starting January 3, 2026. The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is establishing four temporary tourist information centres for this purpose.
Prayagraj's Regional Tourism Officer, Aparajita Singh, stated that around 12-15 crore devotees are expected to visit the Sangam city for the Magh Mela, which will be held for 44 days. Temporary tourist information centres being built for the convenience of tourists will have information booklets on all major tourist destinations available in both Hindi and English.
The information centre will also have a guidebook, a list of trained guides will also be available for the convenience of tourists, and information about registered paying guest houses in Prayagraj for accommodation.
Prayagraj has gained international recognition after the divine and grand event of Mahakumbh 2025. The steadily increasing number of tourists is a testimony to this.
Prayagraj's Regional Tourist Officer Aparajita Singh says that the number of tourists in Prayagraj was 3,19,33,758 in the year 2020, which increased to 1,12,13,496 in the year 2021, 2,60,47,166 in the year 2022, 5,06,71,622 in the year 2023, 5,12,62,806 in the year 2024 and 68,21,50,806 from January to September 2025.
The successful organisation of the divine, grand, and clean Kumbh Mela held in the Sangam city of Prayagraj in 2025, with the efforts of the Yogi Adityanath government, has been praised by the entire world. UNESCO has recognised it as an 'intangible cultural heritage of humanity'.
After the grand success of the event, Sangam city is now waiting for the Magh Mela 2026 after the Maha Kumbh. In view of the expected increasing number of tourists in this grand gathering of faith, to be held on January 3, 2026, the Tourism Department has also completed its preparations.
