A major accident was averted on Thursday afternoon on the Kolkata-Delhi National Highway in the Tharwai area of Gangapar. Near Alpi Ka Pura in Berui village, a tanker filled with flammable gas, which was heading towards Varanasi, was damaged after being hit from behind by an out-of-control car. The impact caused a severe gas leak. The police immediately cordoned off the area and restricted movement to prevent people from going near the site. Subsequently, fire personnel managed to stop the gas leak.
NDRF And Highway Safety Team
Arrive Upon receiving information about the incident, the Tharwai police reached the spot. They were soon joined by a fire brigade team, the NDRF, and the Highway Safety Manager, Abhishek Yadav, along with his team. Within moments, more than half a dozen fire tenders arrived on the highway. Rescue workers immediately began spraying water to dilute the gas and reduce its impact.
Minor Injuries To Car
Occupant After two hours of intense effort, the gas leak was brought completely under control. Immediately after the accident, both the tanker driver and the car occupant exited their vehicles and moved to a safe location. The car occupant sustained minor injuries. As a precautionary measure, traffic on both sides of the highway was halted for approximately two hours. Once the situation returned to normal, the police resumed traffic movement. A major disaster was averted due to the timely initiation of relief and rescue operations.
