Prayagraj Ropeway Project: After nearly seven years of delay, the long-awaited ropeway project in Prayagraj is now making significant progress, with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways clearing hurdles that had stalled the project since its inception.

The project aims to connect key locations in the Sangam area and offer tourists and pilgrims a new way to experience the city’s new skyline.

Prayagraj Ropeway Project Update

- The responsibility for building the ropeway in Prayagraj has reportedly been awarded to the National Highway Logistics Management Limited, News18 reported.

- The project has also secured approval for its updated route design, with construction expected to begin soon.

- The ropeway project will operate on a revenue-sharing model under a public-private partnership.

- The ropeway project in Prayagraj is estimated to cost approximately Rs 210 crore.

Prayagraj Ropeway Project: Expected Route & Stations

- According to the updated route design, the main ropeway station will be between Lal Sadak and Kali Sadak, near the Parade Ground, Maha Kumbh Parade Police Station, and the Prayagraj Mela Authority headquarters.

- This new station was selected to ensure better access and convenience for both local residents and visiting pilgrims.

- The second ropeway station is planned near Triveni Pushp in Arail.

- This route will offer tourists and pilgrims a clear, elevated view of the Sangam area, one of the country’s most sacred and frequently visited sites.

Key Highlights Of The Prayagraj Ropeway Project

- Spanning over 2,200 metres, the ropeway project will be supported by three tall pillars along the route.

- It will feature 14 trolleys, each capable of carrying eight passengers, allowing up to 112 people to ride at once.

- The ropeway project in Varanasi will offer tourists and pilgrims a scenic aerial view of the Sangam and its surroundings.

- According to reports, a Rajasthan-based company has been selected as the implementing agency following detailed surveys and design evaluations.

- Representatives from the company have already conducted on-site surveys to finalise construction plans.
