Last year, under "Operation Sindoor," the capital witnessed a blackout to assess security and disaster management capabilities. The objective was to minimise potential damage during wartime, specifically during air strikes by enemy nations. Once again, preparations are underway for a blackout in Lucknow around Republic Day. A similar mock drill involving a blackout will be conducted at the Police Lines on January 23.

Focus On Chemical Attack Preparedness

The drill will involve personnel and experts from security agencies, disaster management bodies and other relevant departments. The exercise also aims to raise awareness about defense measures during wartime, particularly protection against chemical attacks. During the blackout, all lights in a designated area are switched off for a specific period.

Week-long Celebrations

Administrative officials stated that preparations for the blackout are in full swing. Last year, the Chief Minister himself was present at the Police Lines during the exercise. In the capital, Republic Day celebrations are being organised for an entire week. The main event will take place in front of the Vidhan Bhavan, attended by the Governor and the Chief Minister.

Grand Parade And High Security

As always, a grand parade will be held, featuring the Army, police, government departments, and tableaus from the city's leading schools. A full dress rehearsal of the parade is scheduled for January 24.

The city will be decorated for the occasion, with all major buildings and historical sites illuminated with tricolor lights. In view of Republic Day, stringent security arrangements will be implemented at key locations, particularly airports, railway stations, and other public places.
