The bodies of two friends were found floating in a water-filled pit alongside the Dahi-Dostinagar bypass on Saturday morning. The two friends had left home together on a motorbike on the day of Bhai Dooj. They were reportedly seen intoxicated later that same evening. The motorbike was also discovered submerged in the pit. It is suspected that they lost control of the bike, causing it to fall into the water-filled pit, leading to their drowning deaths. Police are investigating the incident.
18-year-old Gulshan, son of Sohan and a resident of Tikargadhi village in the Dahi area, had left home around 1:00 pm on Bhai Dooj without informing anyone. He took his brother-in-law Sujit's motorbike and was accompanied by his 20-year-old friend Anshu, also from the village. Neither of them returned home by nightfall. Despite searches conducted by their families, their whereabouts could not be determined. The families reported them missing to the Dahi police station on Friday.
Police initiated a search operation. On Saturday morning, a young man from the village spotted the bodies lying in the water-filled pit beside the Dahi-Dostinagar bypass road, near the village. Police recovered the bodies of both young men, along with the motorbike, from the pit. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Anshu was the only son in his family.
