Around 18,000 farmers in the district are set to miss out on the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana as they have not completed the mandatory Farmer Registry process. While 59,000 farmers are registered on the Agriculture Department’s portal, only 48,000 are currently receiving the scheme’s benefits.

The government has made the Farmer Registry compulsory for availing the benefits of schemes such as PM-Kisan. However, despite repeated appeals from the Agriculture Department, thousands of farmers have not completed the process. According to departmental sources, the next instalment of PM-Kisan will be released on November 19, and those who fail to complete their registration before this date will not receive the benefit.

What Is the Farmer Registry?

The Farmer Registry is a digital database that records a farmer’s identity, land details, crop information, and contact details. Each farmer is assigned a unique code, which, when entered on the department’s website, displays the complete profile. The system ensures transparency and eliminates the need for farmers to repeatedly submit documents. Those who complete the process will get hassle-free access to PM-Kisan and other government schemes.

Farmers can complete their registration at the nearest Jan Seva Kendra, agricultural facilitation centre, or even online via the department’s website.

Deputy Director of Agriculture Rajiv Kumar said, “48,000 farmers in the district receive the Samman Nidhi. All schemes operated by the agricultural department are now being linked to the Farmer Registry. 18,000 farmers are not showing interest in registering. As a result, these farmers may be deprived of the benefits of the Samman Nidhi scheme.”
