UP Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi conducted a comprehensive review of departmental schemes at Krishi Bhawan on Wednesday. He issued strict directives to ensure that farmers receive the benefits of government schemes in a timely and transparent manner. He emphasised that the impact of these schemes must be visible at the grassroots level, rather than being confined to paperwork.
The minister stressed the importance of providing essential agricultural inputs such as seeds, bio-fertilisers, and gypsum to farmers without delay. He also instructed that information boards be installed at sites where demonstration programs are underway and directed officials to conduct regular inspections.
During the meeting, the distribution plan for 12.45 lakh quintals of certified seeds for Kharif 2025 was reviewed. Additionally, a demand for 323 quintals of improved seeds has been submitted to the central government. To promote the use of quality seeds, a target has been set to distribute 6.55 lakh mini kits.
The state government has also formulated a plan to establish 766 agri-junctions across Uttar Pradesh in the 2025–26 fiscal year. The progress of the accelerated maize development programme, currently being implemented over 57,252 acres, was also assessed.
The minister expressed satisfaction over the progress of the cow-based natural farming initiative, which is being implemented on 23,500 hectares in the Bundelkhand region.
In addition, a Rs 10,781 lakh project has been proposed for the treatment of 35,600 hectares of ravine and barren land in the next financial year. Officials informed that the process of site selection is underway and the project is on track to be completed within the stipulated timeline.
Minister Shahi also directed officials to increase awareness among farmers about various schemes and modern agricultural techniques through radio, television, digital media, fairs, and seminars, with the aim of making agriculture more profitable and sustainable.
