So far, over 54 crore devotees have visited the Sangam and taken a holy dip during the Maha Kumbh. Due to the large number of pilgrims, severe traffic jams have been reported in several areas. In such circumstances, students preparing for the board exams were concerned about reaching their exam centres in Prayagraj on time. However, with this decision, they must have felt a sense of relief.

Speaking to news agency ANI Gulab Devi said, "57 crore people have taken holy dip in Maha Kumbh. To avoid the affect on Maha Kumbh as well as the students, the exams scheduled for 24th February have been postponed only in Prayagraj..."

Further, when asked about cheating incidents in the board exams, she said, "Special penalties will be levied on those who indulge in cheating. Under IPC, if any person assigned to conduct the examination does not perform his/her duty, then provision has been made for a maximum imprisonment of seven years and a fine... Additionally, if a person tries to pressurise or threaten someone who has the responsibility to conduct examinations, he will be liable to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine worth Rs 10 Lakhs..."

On Friday, Gulab Devi inaugurated the state level control room in Lucknow as a step towards making the UP Board's high school and intermediate exams free from cheating.
