Uttar Pradesh government will today present the budget for the year 2024-25. State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna will present the budget in the state assembly at 11 am. Khanna signed the final budget on Sunday at his office.
He said the budget will be all-inclusive and all-approaching, based on the resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047. He said it will act as a template to make Uttar Pradesh a one trillion economy.
Khanna said the budget will focus on poor, overlooked, youth, women and farmers. He said this budget is a document of restoration of ancient cultural glory in the state as well as following all the modern parameters of development.
Yogi Adityanath's cabinet will give its nod to the budget before it is presented in the state assembly. This would be the eighth budget of the Yogi-led UP government. This is going to be the largest-ever annual budget of a size of over Rs 7 lakh crore. There are indications that the annual budget will have larger allocations for the development of infrastructure. There will be an increase in allocations to capital expenditure and some ongoing projects.
“The Yogi Adityanath government has always presented a progressive budget to the aspirations of the people over the years. The state government has taken care of the development of infrastructure and public welfare and maintained a strict financial discipline. We have taken initiatives to curtail wasteful expenditure,” said Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister Suresh Khanna.
The state government had presented an annual budget of Rs 6.90 lakh crore for 2023-2024. This included allocations of Rs 1.87 lakh crore for the capital expenditure. It presented its first supplementary budget of Rs 28,760.67 crore for 2023-2024 making key demands in different sectors with a focus on power and funding populist announcements including a demand for additional funds for free power supply to farmers (private tubewells).

With an increase in allocations under the capital expenditure head, the size of the annual budget is bound to go up in the range of Rs 7 lakh crore to Rs 7.50 lakh crore this time. There will likely be more allocations/announcements for the farmers and the youths.
