Uttar Pradesh: At least three passengers, including a child, died, and around 20 others were injured after a private bus travelling from Delhi to Siwan, Bihar, met with an accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 3:20 AM near Araul Cut in Tehsil Bilhaur when the speeding bus lost control and overturned.
As the bus overturned, panic and chaos erupted inside, with several passengers trapped amid broken seats and shattered glass. The Bilhaur tehsil administration, police, and expressway patrol teams rushed to the scene after receiving information of the incident.
Rescue teams immediately began the relief operations, removing passengers from the wreckage and rushing them to the nearby hospital for treatment, Jagran.com reported. The bodies of three deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Traffic on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway has been restored after the bus was removed with the help of a crane. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
According to a report by Jagran.com, preliminary investigation suggests that the driver lost control of the bus. High speed and dense fog during the early morning may have also contributed to the accident.

Inspector Janardan Singh Yadav stated that the bus carrying around 45 passengers was travelling from Delhi to Siwan at the time of the accident, Jagran.com reported. The vehicle was reportedly moving at a speed of 100-120 kilometres when the driver was believed to have dozed off, causing the bus to lose control and overturn, the report added.
Some passengers with injuries were evacuated from the scene, while the driver fled immediately after the accident. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and more details are awaited.
