UP By-Election 2024 Schedule: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule of Uttar Pradesh by-polls in a press conference on Tuesday. According to the announcement, the date for UP by-polls is November 13 (Wednesday). The date for counting of votes has been scheduled for November 23.

Uttar Pradesh's by-polls are set to take place for 10 legislative assembly seats, including key constituencies such as Karhal in Mainpuri, Sisamau in Kanpur, and Milkipur in Ayodhya. Other constituencies set to go to polls are Katehari (Ambedkarnagar), Kundarki (Moradabad), Khair (Aligarh), Ghaziabad, Phulpur (Prayagraj), Majhava (Mirzapur), and Meerapur (Muzaffarnagar).

The Sisamau seat in Kanpur fell vacant due to the conviction of SP MLA Irfan Solanki, whereas nine MLAs became Lok Sabha members.

The names of the candidates for the by-elections to 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh were decided upon during a crucial BJP meeting in Delhi on Sunday. The conference also determined that the party would fight nine seats while leaving one for its ally, the Rashtriya Lok Dal. The candidates will be notified as soon as the by-election dates are published. Out of the 10 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, five of the 10 assembly seats were held by the Samajwadi Party (SP), three by the BJP and one each by the NISHAD party and the RLD. The SP has also declared candidates for six seats and said it will contest the by-polls with the Congress, which contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections together.
