UP Cabinet Approves Rs 5 Lakh Cashless Medical Insurance For Teachers, Shiksha Mitras And Education Staff

The Yogi Adityanath government on Thursday announced a significant benefit for teachers, Shiksha Mitras, cooks, and other personnel of both education departments. The cashless medical insurance scheme was approved in a Cabinet meeting on Thursday. 

Under this scheme, families will be able to avail of cashless treatment of up to Rs 5,00,000. During a meeting at Lok Bhavan, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and lasting around two hours, the proposal to provide a cashless medical insurance facility to teachers, cooks, and staff of the Secondary and Basic Education departments was approved.

Teachers at non-government aided and self-financed schools will also benefit from the cashless medical facility. 

Teachers in schools run by the Basic Education Council, along with Shiksha Mitras, special educators, instructors, staff of Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalayas, and cooks (PM POSHAN scheme), will be provided with the cashless treatment facility for their families.

As a result of the government's decision, a total of 11,95,391 teachers and staff in basic education will receive the cashless treatment facility. Similarly, 2,97,589 individuals under the Secondary Education Department will be able to receive cashless treatment of up to Rs 5,00,000.
