Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved 95 new irrigation and water resource projects aimed at strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s canal network and improving water availability for farmers. The projects, costing Rs 39,453.39 lakh, are expected to restore irrigation capacity across 36,000 hectares, directly benefiting nearly 9 lakh farmers. Additionally, 273 hectares of state land will be safeguarded through these initiatives.

Reviewing the Irrigation and Water Resources Department on Wednesday at his official residence, the Chief Minister directed officials to complete all sanctioned works within the prescribed deadlines. He instructed strict action against any compromise on quality and asked the department to survey unused land to prepare a utilisation plan.

He reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring that no farmer suffers crop loss due to irrigation shortages.

Officials informed that the approved projects include the construction of canals and permanent structures such as head regulators, cross regulators, siphons, and falls to improve connectivity within the canal system. The works also involve repairs inside and outside canals, reconstruction of damaged outlets, construction and repair of bridges and culverts, and brick paving of canal banks.
