In a major push to ensure a clean water supply for the residents, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a deadline of December 15, 2025, to install tap connections and complete a third-party audit in the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions in Uttar Pradedh. The decision was made during CM’s review meeting regarding the status of the 'Jal Jeevan Mission-Har Ghar Nal Yojana' on Sunday.

Similarly, projects in Phases that are currently 90 per cent complete should also be finished by December 15, in line with Phase 1. Meanwhile, a target has been set to complete work that is currently 75 per cent finished by March 2026.

The Chief Minister has stated that providing pure drinking water to every home is the state government's highest priority, with the scheme not merely a drinking water supply programme but a mission directly linked to public health, the dignity of women, and the quality of rural life. He added that no compromise on either the timeline or the quality of the schemes will be accepted at any level. A shortage of funds will not be permitted at any stage. 

During the meeting, senior officials from Namami Gange, the Rural Water Supply Department, Jal Nigam, and various implementing agencies presented a detailed progress report. Representatives from the various agencies working on the Jal Jeevan Mission were also specially present at the meeting. 

The Chief Minister enquired with representatives from numerous agencies, including NCC Limited, Larsen & Toubro, Megha Engineering, PNC Infratech, IC Infra, Power Mech, and Kalpataru Projects, about the challenges they face while working in the field. He discussed all essential matters with the agencies, including the quality of work, remaining phase-wise tasks, arrears, and payments, and gave strict instructions to adhere to quality standards and deadlines. 

It was stated in the meeting that schemes worth a total of Rs 90,223 crore are being implemented in the state, including 63 based on surface sources and 548 on groundwater sources. It was also reported that to date, more than 1.98 crore rural households in 85,364 villages have been provided with tap connections. Currently, a regular water supply is being provided to 34,274 villages.

The Chief Minister was informed that a proposal by the central government to extend the duration of the Jal Jeevan Mission to December 2028 and increase the project cost is currently under consideration. The CM stated that the state government will continue the work using its own resources to ensure the public receives the benefits of the schemes on time. 

It was reported at the meeting that nodal officers nominated by the central government had inspected 147 schemes in 74 districts (janpads) of the country, of which 132 were found to be satisfactory. 

Under the grievance redressal system, the portal developed by the state, https://jalsamadhan.in, has been viewed more than 13.5 crore times. Of the 62,688 complaints received on the portal, 46,354 have been resolved. 

Complaints are also being registered via the toll-free number 1800-121-2164. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure the satisfactory resolution of complainants' issues.
