Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan’ (Healthy Woman, Empowered Family Campaign, September 17 to October 2, 2025) and the eighth National Nutrition Month (September 17 to October 16, 2025) via video conferencing from Madhya Pradesh. The campaign is being hailed as one of the country’s largest health initiatives.

At a state-level event held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Centre, KGMU, Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated local programmes. He announced the distribution of smartphones and an increase in honorarium for Anganwadi workers, emphasising their training and timely payments to ensure self-reliance.

The Chief Minister also performed Annaprashan (first solid food) ceremonies for children and Godh Bharai (baby showers) for pregnant women, presenting fruit baskets to expectant mothers. Highlighting women’s empowerment schemes, Adityanath cited initiatives under PM Modi’s leadership, including Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Matru Vandana, Kanya Sumangala, and the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, noting that 10 million women have become self-reliant through 189,000 Anganwadi centres and 1 million women’s self-help groups.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that 60,000 women earn Rs 8,000 per month through Take Home Ration (THR) plants, with incomes expected to rise through support from NAFED. The Chief Minister also felicitated Anganwadi workers, guardians, and village heads (Gram Pradhans) for their contributions under the Sambhav campaign.

  • Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Varanasi – 108 donations
  • Preet Pal Singh, Lucknow – 150 donations
  • Seema Singh, Muzaffarnagar – 28 donations

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak launched 20,324 health camps in 75 districts, offering free screenings for blood, blood pressure, diabetes, oral cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, anaemia, and TB. He added that 507 blood donation camps will be organised to encourage youth participation.

Minister of State for Medical and Health, Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, noted that 432 blood donation camps and registration drives have already been set up. He highlighted that medical colleges in UP have increased from 17 to 81 over the past eight years, reflecting the state’s strengthened healthcare infrastructure.

Senior officials, ministers, and public representatives, including Deputy CMs Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Cabinet Minister Baby Rani Maurya, and Ministers of State Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh and Pratibha Shukla, were present at the event.
