Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday announced that the state government will soon recruit 30,000 more personnel in the Uttar Pradesh Police force. The recruitment process will be initiated shortly by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, he said, while also announcing that 20 per cent of the recruits will be Agniveers, enabling the force to benefit from trained and disciplined personnel.

Addressing a function at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, the Chief Minister distributed appointment letters to 1,494 personnel in the Telecommunication Department of the police. This includes 1,374 assistant operators and 120 workshop employees. He emphasised that police officers must remain sensitive towards citizens and strict with criminals to maintain law and order.

CM Yogi highlighted how police recruitment in the state has changed since 2017. “Before 2017, recruitment was plagued by nepotism and corruption. There was a price for every post, and it directly impacted law and order. Riots were common, and even terrorist attacks occurred in Ayodhya, Kashi, and the CRPF camp in Rampur,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that since the formation of the BJP government in 2017 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the recruitment board was restructured to ensure fairness and transparency. “If anyone tampers with the future of youth, accountability is now ensured,” he said.

Since 2017, over 8.5 lakh youths have been provided government jobs in the state, with the highest number – 2.17 lakh – in Uttar Pradesh Police, he noted.

CM Yogi also pointed out the significant progress in training infrastructure. “While in 2017-18, training facilities existed for only 3,000 personnel, today the number has increased to over 60,000.”

He also mentioned infrastructural advancements, including the establishment of new police lines and headquarters in 10 districts where they previously did not exist. The government has also implemented the long-pending police commissionerate system, creating seven new commissionerates, thereby improving both modernisation and accountability in the police force.

The Chief Minister praised the police's role in managing large-scale events such as the Maha Kumbh, calling the Uttar Pradesh Police a model force in the country.

He also stressed the government's commitment to women's representation, stating that a 20 per cent reservation has been provided for women in the police force. Among the newly recruited telecom personnel, around 300 women candidates have been selected, and the number is expected to increase further.

On the occasion, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna reiterated that more than 8.5 lakh government jobs have been provided since 2017. DGP Rajiv Krishna termed the telecom department as the backbone of the police, and shared that digital police centres have been established in 63 districts, with the remaining 12 to be completed soon.

Also present at the event were Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, DG Telecom Ashutosh Pandey, DG Recruitment Board SD Shirodkar, and other senior officials.
