In a unique initiative to link environmental conservation with the celebration of new life, the Uttar Pradesh government has awarded Green Gold Certificates to 18,348 newborns delivered in government hospitals across the state between July 1 and July 7. Alongside the certificates, families were also gifted a sapling, symbolising prosperity, growth, and a commitment to a greener future.

Implemented jointly by the Forest Department and the Health Department under the Plantation Mahabhiyan, the initiative aims to promote tree plantation, environmental awareness, and community participation in protecting green cover. Parents pledged to care for the plant just as they would for their newborn, making it a dual celebration of life and nature.
