Engineers at the electricity corporation are disregarding the chairman's instructions. An investigation, ordered by the chairman, uncovered major irregularities at three locations within the Khajni sub-division of the Sahjanwa division a month and a half ago. Instructions were issued to take action against those responsible, but Deepak Kumar, the Superintending Engineer (SE) of Rural Distribution Circle II, has failed to act.

A month and a half after the investigation, no action has been taken against anyone. Deepak Kumar has stated that he is currently unwell and will comment on the matter later. A complaint was made to Chairman Dr Ashish Goyal regarding large-scale irregularities in the Khajni sub-division, allegedly carried out with the collusion of electricity engineers and staff. Following this, the investigation was assigned to SE Deepak Kumar. He conducted the investigation on December 16 and 17, 2025.

Internal Collusion And Findings At Beludiha Flour Mill

The irregularities were carried out with the collusion of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Khajni sub-division, the Junior Engineers (JEs) of the Unwal, Gangtahi, and Khajni sub-stations, along with Junior Meter Testers (JMTs) and contractual workers.

During the investigation, a 10 kVA transformer was discovered hidden in a flour mill in Beludiha village, which is connected to the Unwal sub-station. The mill belongs to the mother of a Junior Meter Tester from the electricity corporation. The Junior Meter Tester's brother, Govind Yadav, is a contractual worker at the Unwal sub-station. Subsequently, Atul Rai, the Junior Engineer (JE) of the Unwal sub-station, filed an FIR against the contractual worker, Govind Yadav, at the anti-theft electricity police station.

Three Major Cases Of Electricity Irregularities

Furthermore, after investigating two other cases, the SE had stated at the time that a report would be submitted within two days. The three cases include:

Illegal Possession of Transformer: A transformer, hidden in a flour mill in Beludiha village connected to the Unwal sub-station, was seized. An attempt was being made to sell it.

Unauthorised Line Shifting: An 11,000-volt line spanning five poles was shifted near the Siswa canal of the Gangtahi sub-station. A 25 kVA transformer was also relocated. This resulted in a loss of hundreds of thousands of rupees for the electricity corporation.

Illegal Power Extraction At Brick Kiln

In Satuabhar, under the Khajni sub-station, neither the power line nor the transformer was removed from a brick kiln despite its connection being permanently disconnected. Electricity was being illegally drawn from this line.

It has also been alleged that the line was illegally installed during the COVID-19 pandemic, but this has not yet been investigated.
