The UP Energy Corporation’s Electricity Bill Relief Scheme 2025-26 began on Monday, December 1, with special counters set up across all divisional offices in the Bulandshahr region. The scheme offers major relief to ‘never-paid’ and ‘unpaid’ consumers through interest waivers and principal discounts on lump-sum bill payments.

According to officials, more than 2.28 lakh defaulting domestic and commercial consumers have been identified in Bulandshahr district alone, with total outstanding dues reaching Rs 346.75 crore.

The scheme will be implemented in three phases. During the first phase, consumers who clear their dues in a single payment will receive a 100 per cent interest waiver along with a 25 per cent rebate on the principal amount. Those facing FIRs for electricity theft have also been included for relief benefits.

Chief Engineer Sanjeev Kumar said that on the first day, consumers registered in large numbers at all divisional offices, and payments towards outstanding dues were deposited accordingly.
