The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department is set to survey the border areas along the state to open new liquor shops in the areas to achieve the revenue target. Minister of State for Excise (Independent Charge) Nitin Agarwal has issued instructions to officials in this regard. 

Agarwal stated that strict action will be taken against officials who fail to meet the revenue target. He has also instructed officials to stop the smuggling of liquor from other states.

While reviewing the work of the Excise Department in his office on Thursday, he instructed officials that the excise revenue target of Rs 63,000 crore set by the government must be achieved at all costs. He also said that action should be taken against officials posted in districts where the target for October could not be met. 

Additionally, a list of consistently underperforming officials should be prepared. Officials reported that against the target of Rs 32,500 crore set for the period from April to October, Rs 30,657.54 crore have been achieved. This is Rs 4,326.67 crore more than the previous financial year.

Agarwal stated that strict action should be taken against those involved in the illegal liquor trade in the state. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Veena Kumari, Excise Commissioner Dr Adarsh Singh, and other officials.
