Beneficiaries of the free ration scheme who have not completed their Know Your Customer (KYC) process will not receive their food grains this month. The District Supply Office has withheld the ration allocation for approximately 125,000 adult consumers whose KYC details are not updated.

According to the new mandate, all members of a household above the age of five listed on a ration card must complete their KYC. Out of a total of 2 million beneficiaries in the capital, around 300,000 adults have yet to complete the process. While the ration for 125,000 of these individuals has been stopped, the food grain supply for children under five (numbering 175,000) will continue uninterrupted.

The District Supply Officer (DSO), Vijay Pratap Singh, has urged all affected cardholders to visit their local ration shopkeeper (kotedar) with their Aadhaar card to update their KYC details immediately.

How To Complete Ration Card e-KYC Online

Here are the steps to follow for completing your Ration Card e-KYC verification online:

Step 1: Visit the official Public Distribution System (PDS) portal for your state.

Step 2: On the homepage, find the e-KYC option, which may be located under a section like ‘Ration Card Services’ or ‘Update Details’.

Step 3: Enter your Ration Card number. Ensure that the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar is active.

Step 4: An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP on the portal to verify your Aadhaar.

Step 5: After successful verification, your e-KYC will be updated.

How To Complete Ration Card e-KYC Offline

Here are the steps to complete the e-KYC process offline at your local ration shop:

Step 1: Visit your nearest Fair Price Shop (FPS).

Step 2: Ask the dealer to start the e-KYC process using their e-PoS (Electronic Point of Sale) machine.

Step 3: Provide your biometrics, such as your fingerprint, for authentication on the e-PoS device.

Step 4: Once your biometric details are verified against the Aadhaar database, the e-KYC process is complete.

New Timings To Curb Malpractices

In a separate move to prevent unfair practices by ration shopkeepers, the administration has implemented a new two-shift system for distribution.

  • Morning Shift: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Afternoon Shift: 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm

The Electronic Point of Sale (e-PoS) machines used for authentication will now automatically shut down outside these designated hours, and no thumbprint verification will be accepted.

Official Addresses Server Issues

Addressing complaints about system slowdowns, DSO Vijay Pratap Singh acknowledged the issue. "The server has slowed down at times due to the simultaneous processes of KYC updates and ration distribution," he said. "However, the server has been working fine for the last two days. Sometimes, the e-PoS machine does not operate quickly due to local network issues."
