A 25-year-old medical store owner has died by suicide in Sohna, allegedly after facing relentless harassment and threats from his in-laws. The victim, Ajay Pal, a resident of Daula village, was found hanging at his home on Thursday night.

Based on a complaint filed by his family, Sohna police have registered a case for abetment of suicide and harassment against eight members of his wife's family and have launched an investigation.

According to the complaint filed by the victim's brother, Vijay Pal, the harassment began after a prior incident of violence. He stated that on August 12, Ajay Pal's brother-in-law, Nitesh, along with his associates, had brutally assaulted him. A police case regarding that assault was already registered at the city police station.

Vijay Pal alleged that following the assault complaint, the in-laws began pressuring his brother to reach a "compromise" and withdraw the case. They allegedly threatened to frame Ajay Pal in a false counter-case if he did not agree.

"He was under severe mental distress," Vijay Pal stated in his complaint. "The in-laws were also making threatening phone calls to our father and other family members." He claimed that this immense mental pressure is what drove his brother to take the extreme step.

Based on this complaint, police have booked eight people, including the brother-in-law Nitesh, his wife Meera, mother-in-law Geeta, and father-in-law Santosh.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jitendra Kumar confirmed that a complaint has been registered. "An investigation into the matter is underway, and arrests will be made soon," he stated.
