Nepal Unrest: A bus carrying 49 Indian tourists was reportedly attacked near Sonauli, Uttar Pradesh on the India-Nepal border on September 9, the second day of Gen Z protest, News18 reported, adding several passengers were injured in the violent demonstration in the neighbouring country.
They were attacked when the group was returning from Kathmandu after offering prayers at the Pashupatinath temple, an iconic temple in the country, which was once the only Hindu country in the world. The driver of the bus, Ramu Nishad, recalled the incident, saying the mob started pelting stones at them without provocation.
He said the tourists were returning after darshan at the Pashupatinath temple, when suddenly a group of protests surrounded the bus and attacked them without reason.
Nepal Unrest: Elderly Tourists Attacked
He said the attackers ignored the fact that there were women and elderly people among the passengers. Several passengers were injured and the windows of the bus were shattered in the stone-pelting. Soon after the attack, authorities rushed the the hospital in Kathmandu, where they were getting treatment.

Youth-led Gen Z group, which spearheaded the anti-government protests in Nepal, had on Thursday said Parliament must be dissolved and the Constitution should be amended to reflect the will of the people, as the death toll from the demonstrations increased to 34.
The Gen Z protesters organised a press meet here to express their views, while some of their representatives were busy holding discussions with President Ramchandra Paudel and Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel at the Army Headquarters to find a solution to the current political crisis.
