The Uttar Pradesh government will soon construct eight hostels, each with 500 beds, specifically for working women in Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and Ghaziabad. A total of Rs 381 crore will be invested in these projects, with the central government already releasing the first installment of Rs 251.82 crore. The Women Welfare Department is set to begin construction shortly.
The primary goal of this initiative is to provide safe, accessible, and convenient accommodation for working women, ensuring they have well-equipped living spaces. The project is part of the ongoing efforts to promote women’s empowerment.
Under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, the central government has allocated funds for these eight hostels. Implementing agencies have been selected, and construction is expected to begin soon.
This initiative will offer significant relief to working women, eliminating the need to rely on girls’ hostels or temporary accommodation while working away from home. The government is prioritising security and other essential amenities for the hostels.
